The white-hat hacker involved in the Prisma Finance exploit has made a bold move by requesting a press conference to reveal their identity. This request comes after the hacker was criticized for transferring 1,840 ETH (approximately $6.5 million) using Tornado Cash, a tactic commonly associated with malicious attacks rather than ethical hacking operations.
Despite using Tornado Cash to obscure the funds’ origins, the hacker claims that their actions were intended to expose vulnerabilities within Prisma Finance’s system. In a recent on-chain message, the hacker challenged the Prisma Finance team to publicly acknowledge their oversight by revealing their real identities in a live online conference and issuing apologies to users and investors.
The hacker also demanded that Prisma Finance refrain from placing blame on them and requested a change in the accusatory language used in their communications within 12 hours. While negotiations for the return of the stolen funds have been ongoing, the hacker has made it clear that any further discussions will only take place after the online conference.
Prisma Finance, a stablecoin protocol, suffered a breach earlier this week, resulting in a loss of nearly $11.6 million. The attacker received funds from FixedFloat and promptly executed a malicious contract to carry out the breach. This incident highlights the importance of robust security measures in the cryptocurrency space.
