South Korean Exchanges Upbit and Bithumb to List Berachain Token

Two prominent South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges, Upbit and Bithumb, have announced that they will be adding Berachain to their listings on February 6, coinciding with the highly anticipated launch of the Berachain mainnet.

Users will be able to trade Berachain’s native token, BERA, on both exchanges from February 6 at 22:00 KST. Notably, BERA deposits and withdrawals will only be possible through the newly launched Berachain mainnet. Berachain is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible layer 1 blockchain that utilizes a Proof-of-Liquidity consensus mechanism.

Bithumb and Upbit Trading Details

Bithumb will offer trading support for BERA exclusively on its Korean won markets. To ensure a stable trading environment, buy and sell orders for BERA will be restricted for the first five minutes of trading, with a limit of less than 10% and more than 100% of the standard price. Automatic orders can begin after the first transaction is completed.

On Upbit, BERA will be available for trading with Korean won, Bitcoin, and Tether. However, the exchange has warned users that the trading support start time may change depending on whether BERA has sufficient liquidity for trading.

Berachain’s Evolution and Expansion

Berachain originated as an NFT project called Bong Bears but has since grown into a comprehensive blockchain ecosystem, set to make its debut on February 6.

Additional Listings on Upbit

Alongside the BERA listing, Upbit will also be adding Solana-based Jito and Scroll to its platform. JTO and SCR will be available for trading on February 6 at 18:00 KST, with trading support provided for only BTC and USDT markets.

Market Impact

According to recent data, Scroll experienced a significant boost following the Upbit announcement, with its token price increasing by over 15% in the past 24 hours to $0.68. In contrast, the Upbit listing had a minimal impact on JTO’s price, with a 0.28% increase in the past 24 hours and a 15.8% decline over the past seven days.
