🌎 University of The Bahamas Students Win $10K for NFT Art and Music

Five students from the University of The Bahamas each won $10,000 for their digital music and art creations as part of the university’s NFT Digital Arts Project, sponsored by Cordell Broadus, son of Snoop Dogg.

According to a recent announcement, the University of The Bahamas revealed the student winners of its Non-fungible Token (NFT) Digital Arts Project on October 7. Each student was awarded $10,000 for their NFT creations.

Categories and Winners

Three students received awards in the Visual Art category, while two others were recognized in the Music category. This project was funded by the Champ Medici Arts Fund Scholarship Award at the university.

Collaboration and Funding

The initiative was a collaborative effort involving Cordell Broadus and the Tezos Foundation. The award was first established in March 2024 with an initial donation of $100,000.

Student Experience and Learning

One of the students who won in the Music category shared that participating in the competition provided valuable insights into NFT technology.

Champ Medici Arts Fund (CMAF)

The CMAF is a $1 million philanthropic fund started by Cordell Broadus in partnership with the Tezos Foundation. Their mission is to support emerging musicians and artists globally, encouraging them to create and innovate using the Tezos blockchain.

Future Contributions

The NFT competition marks the beginning of CMAF and Tezos Foundation’s contributions to the university’s art and music programs. They plan to offer educational tutorials, materials, and guidance to help students mint, market, and sell their NFT works on the Tezos blockchain.

Equipment and Technology

The joint initiative also aims to provide the university with the necessary equipment and technology, enabling students to pursue digital art and music projects effectively.
