Uniswap V4 Launches Across Multiple Blockchain Networks

Uniswap v4, the fourth-generation protocol of the decentralized exchange Uniswap, is now live and available for public access across several blockchain networks.

Key Upgrades and Features

According to Uniswap Labs, the entity behind the decentralized exchange, Uniswap v4 introduces improvements aimed at enhancing developer operability and on-chain liquidity. The upgrade is currently live on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Base, BNB Chain, Blast, World Chain, Avalanche, and Zora Network.

Two of the most significant upgrades in Uniswap v4 are the introduction of hooks and the singleton liquidity design. Hooks are blockchain contracts built to allow custom architecture for liquidity pools, on-chain swaps, and crypto fees. This upgrade promises to transform Uniswap into a developer-focused decentralized application.

Benefits of Hooks and Singleton Liquidity Design

The new liquidity architecture is expected to enable cheaper transactions and faster swaps, ultimately bettering the end-user experience. Hooks also enable faster development cycles and stickier integrations by allowing developers to build and experiment directly on top of the protocol.

Some of the features introduced by hooks include:

  • Dynamic fees
  • Automated liquidity management
  • Custom architecture for liquidity pools and on-chain swaps

Over 150 hooks have already been developed, demonstrating the potential of this new feature.

Security and Testing

The launch of Uniswap v4 was initially planned for last year but was delayed due to extensive code audits to ensure security and multiple hackathons to stress test the protocol’s code. The team audited v4’s code nine times and even issued a $15.5 million bug bounty to troubleshoot any lingering architecture concerns.

What’s Next for Uniswap V4

Swapping features are set to debut for all users in the coming days. As Uniswap v4 continues to roll out, users can expect to see improvements in developer operability and on-chain liquidity.
