Ubisoft, the renowned video game developer behind popular titles like Assassin’s Creed, Brawlhalla, and Far Cry, is making a significant move into web3 gaming with its first release on the Oasys blockchain.

On October 10, Ubisoft announced that its tactical role-playing game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, will launch on HOME Verse, a gaming hub on the Ethereum layer-2 network optimized by the Oasys blockchain. The turn-based game is set to deploy on October 23, 2024.

Ubisoft’s New Web3 Game

Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles is a tactical RPG featuring player-versus-player (PvP) battles in the mystical world of Grimoria. The game includes 75,000 digital collectibles, known as Champions, which are the main characters possessing unique traits that enhance PvP battles. The launch of this game marks nearly a year since Ubisoft first revealed its plans for venturing into web3 gaming.

Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab aims to enhance gameplay in the expanding web3 space with Champions Tactics and other top titles. The goal is to unlock new possibilities and opportunities for players.

“With Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, we’re bringing a true gaming experience to Web3. This isn’t GameFi—it’s about pure, immersive gameplay that draws players in, while giving them the freedom to own their assets and shape the game’s future,” said Sylvain Loe-Mie, executive producer for Champions Tactics.

Oasys and Ubisoft Collaboration

As part of the collaboration with Ubisoft, Oasys will ensure full optimization of the game’s blockchain elements. This partnership further solidifies Oasys’ growing presence in the crypto gaming sector. Besides Ubisoft, Oasys counts top gaming and web3 providers SEGA and Yield Guild Games among its proof-of-stake network validators.
