Symbiotic Restaking Platform Launches on Ethereum Mainnet
Symbiotic, a permissionless restaking platform, has officially launched its protocol on the Ethereum mainnet. The platform achieved this milestone after nearly two years of rigorous research and security validation, which included five independent audits. A code competition was also hosted to ensure the security and functionality of the protocol.
Key Features of the Symbiotic Protocol
By going live on the Ethereum mainnet, Symbiotic becomes the first restaking protocol to launch a feature-complete shared security protocol with slashing. This innovation introduces the benefits of permissionless shared security to the ecosystem.
Security Benefits and Integrations
Multiple crypto integrations are leveraging Symbiotic’s innovation, including:
- Zero-knowledge proof marketplaces
- Artificial intelligence systems
- Cross-chain messaging protocols
- Data availability solutions
These protocols utilize Symbiotic to meet diverse security requirements while maintaining protocol sovereignty. Some of the projects leveraging this architecture include:
- Capx, an Ethereum layer 2 for AI agents
- HyveDA, a decentralized data availability platform
- Hyperlane, an interoperability toolkit
- Kalypso by Marlin, a circuit-agnostic ZK proof marketplace
- Symbiosis, a cross-chain liquidity protocol
- L1 chain Router
Overall, nearly 50 networks, 55 vaults, and 78 operators integrate with Symbiotic.
Funding and Development
The platform raised $5.8 million in seed funding in June, backed by Paradigm and cyber.Fund, among other crypto venture capital firms. Symbiotic unveiled its devnet in August 2024, just months after the platform’s stealth launch. The team initially expected the mainnet deployment in Q3 2024.
