Square Enix, a well-known video game publisher, has announced the auction schedule for its blockchain-based game Symbiogenesis. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated November 24, the creators of Final Fantasy detailed their plans to sell Symbiogenesis NFTs in three phases.
Symbiogenesis NFT Auction Schedule
The auction is set to begin next week, with the following schedule:
- Phase 1: November 27, 12:00 PM – November 28, 11:59 AM (JST)
- Phase 2: November 30, 12:00 PM – December 1, 11:59 AM (JST)
- Phase 3: December 2, 12:00 PM – December 3, 11:59 AM (JST)
During these auctions, a total of 500 character NFTs will be released for Chapter 1 of Symbiogenesis. The initial auction will introduce ten unique NFT characters. The second auction will see the addition of 90 characters, and the final round will contribute 400 more NFT characters to the game.
Exclusive Access and Phased Openings
Square Enix has specified that the first phase, occurring from November 27 to November 28, will be exclusive to stakeholders. This means that only initial investors will have access during this phase.
The subsequent phases, however, will be accessible to participants of a permission-based entry campaign. This campaign ran from November 7 to November 21 and involved collectors engaging in quizzes and a treasure hunt within a prototype of the Symbiogenesis universe.
The Vision Behind Symbiogenesis
Symbiogenesis is the result of Square Enix president Yosuke Matsudaβs ambition to enter the web3 gaming space, a goal he voiced earlier this year. In July, Square Enix partnered with a blockchain gaming firm to produce NFTs tied to physical trading cards and action figures from Final Fantasy VII.
Described as a βdigital collectible art project,β Symbiogenesis promises an engaging, narrative-driven gaming experience. It centers around characters and items minted as Ethereum (ETH) NFTs on the Polygon (MATIC) network. The game is scheduled to launch in December, following the initial NFT mint.
