Sonic, a layer 2 gaming network on Solana, has announced a significant milestone: its testnet has reached 1 million monthly active addresses and recorded over 600 million transactions.

This layer 2 network is the first Solana virtual machine-powered gaming platform, setting it apart from other platforms. According to details shared on August 8, Sonic SVM’s testnet achieved over 1 million active addresses, with total transactions surpassing 600 million. The testnet’s first phase, Sonic Origins, featured games such as Rage Effect, JogoJogo, and LowLifeForms, attracting substantial user interaction.

The latest milestone follows the launch of Sonic Testnet Odyssey in June. This phase allowed Sonic to optimize throughput and network stability while giving users a chance to experience Sonic’s gaming and Web3 features.

“Sonic Origins has seen impressive results in user demand and engagement. We’re excited to see real implementation and the growth of an organic community around Sonic as we launch as one of the first SVMs on Solana,” said Chris Zhu, co-founder of Sonic SVM.

The next phase, Sonic Frontier, is now live and aims to onboard more games and partners. This phase also integrates existing Solana protocols, providing users with a broader range of decentralized applications on Sonic SVM. Additionally, more validators will join the network, leveraging HyperGrid’s shared validator network to finalize grid transactions on Solana. HyperGrid is a horizontal scaling solution that facilitates parallel transaction processing, enabling developers to build and deploy new games on Solana.

Sonic, which raised $12 million in a Series A round in June, plans to launch its mainnet after the Frontier testnet is complete.
