Solana Meme Launchpad Pump.fun Regains Control After Brief Takeover by Hackers

Pump.fun, a popular Solana meme launchpad, has regained control of its X account after it was briefly taken over by unknown attackers. The hackers accessed the platform’s X page and used it to promote scam meme tokens in a series of posts.

ZachXBT, a renowned blockchain investigator, was the first to warn users about the breach, advising traders not to click any links or trade the meme tokens posted by the attackers. In one of the now-deleted posts, the hackers attempted to deceive investors into purchasing a fake Pump.fun governance token. Notably, Pump.fun does not have a native token and only facilitates the quick creation of Solana-based cryptocurrencies.

Although Pump.fun has regained control of its X account, it remains unclear if any meme traders suffered losses from the incident.

Recurring Issue: Multiple X Accounts Hacked in Recent Months

This incident is not an isolated event, as ZachXBT noted on his official Telegram channel. The Pump.fun X account compromise is directly connected to previous hacks, including the Jupiter DAO (February 2025) and DogWifCoin (November 2024) X account compromises.

A network of addresses linking these hacks suggests that a single threat actor may be responsible. Typically, attackers take control of popular accounts, post fraudulent contract addresses, and attempt to steal funds from unsuspecting users.

ZachXBT believes that the issue is likely not the fault of the affected teams but rather a result of a threat actor using social engineering tactics to exploit employees at X or a panel vulnerability.
