A Solana-based memecoin called Slerf recently made headlines after accidentally burning $10 million worth of SOL tokens raised from presale investors. The anonymous creator of Slerf shared the unfortunate news on Twitter, stating that they had mistakenly burned the LP and tokens set aside for the airdrop, with mint authority already revoked, making it impossible to rectify the situation.

According to a thread on Mar. 18, the incident was attributed to a “simple mindless misclick” while attempting to burn tokens using Solana’s web tools. This mistake led to the revocation of the mint function, leaving investors without the promised SLERF tokens.

Despite this setback, market speculators have driven the token’s value up by over 5,000% to $1.26, with liquidity exceeding $170 million. The top contributor on the Slerf website invested 1,000 SOL tokens, valued at over $200,000 at the time.
