PeckShield recently reported on the movement of assets from addresses associated with the hacking incident at the Prisma Finance protocol. Analysts closely monitored the funds being transferred in wallets linked to the criminal activity. In two transactions, the hacker sent 1,840 Ethereum (ETH) valued at approximately $6.5 million to the Tornado Cash mixer.
One of the labeled addresses of the exploiters from Prisma Finance transferred around 200 $ETH to Tornado Cash and 6 $ETH to two other addresses. Another address received 0.05 $ETH from the AffineDeFi hacker address about 11 days ago.
After some time, experts observed that the attacker reached out to the developers of Prisma Finance. The exploiter expressed interest in moving the funds to a secure location before proceeding to the “next step.” The hacker, whose identity remains unknown, also posed questions to the developers regarding smart contracts and whether the project underwent an audit prior to deployment.
According to the message left by the exploiter, the primary motivation behind the attack was to emphasize the importance of proper project audits and the security of smart contracts. There was no mention of returning the stolen funds in the message.
On March 28, Prisma Finance experienced a security breach resulting in approximately $9 million in losses, with the attacker allegedly financing the hack through the FixedFloat cryptocurrency exchange. However, PeckShield experts revealed that the actual volume of stolen assets amounted to $11.6 million.
