Engaging with the Protocol

To interact with the Worldcoin protocol, individuals need to download a compatible wallet app that supports creating a World ID. Users then visit a physical imaging device known as the Orb to get their World IDs verified. These Orbs are managed by independent local businesses called Orb Operators.

The Orb uses multispectral sensors to verify an individual's uniqueness and issue an Orb-verified World ID. All images are immediately deleted from the device by default unless there's explicit consent for data custody. All holders of Orb-verified World IDs can claim recurring free WLD tokens, subject to availability restrictions. The WLD token is designed as a utility token with governance properties.
