NEAR Protocol’s X account, with a large following of over 1.9 million users, recently posted encrypted messages that have sparked curiosity within the community. The first message was shared at 18:18 UTC on May 8, resembling Morse code and decoding to “Darkness is coming.”

Despite the cryptic nature of the message, Yadira Blocker, the marketing and events lead at NEAR Foundation, responded with a hint of excitement, stating that “Something is cooking.” In another post, Blocker teased that “alpha is coming.”

In addition to the encrypted messages, NEAR Protocol’s X account shared posts in Zalgo text, a glitch-styled font often associated with hacker activity. The recent posts from the official NEAR Protocol page convey messages like “The sun rises in the east” and “Reclaim your sovereignty.”

While some users speculate that the NEAR Protocol X account may have been compromised, the company has not issued any official statements regarding the messages. This comes in the wake of recent hacks on prominent accounts, like Spider-Man actor Tom Holland’s account promoting a crypto scam token and Trezor’s account pushing a fraudulent Solana-based cryptocurrency.

Stay tuned for more updates on NEAR Protocol’s mysterious messages and upcoming developments in the cryptocurrency space.
