Consensys, the firm behind the popular MetaMask wallet, has introduced an array of tools aimed at simplifying web3 onboarding for new users.
Unveiled during the EthCC event, the Delegation Toolkit is designed to help developers create decentralized applications (DApps) and protocols that offer novel user experiences. This toolkit eliminates the need for traditional wallet interactions, making onboarding seamless. Users can now access dApps without managing seed phrases or dealing with pop-ups and confirmations.
Moreover, the toolkit simplifies smart contract development by allowing developers to reassign gas costs, creating more user-friendly dApps. Some interactions that previously required transaction fees are now βcompletely free and instant.β By offloading these costs, developers can attract a wider audience, making blockchain technology more inclusive and appealing.
The toolkit natively supports all Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains, such as Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon.
In addition to these features, the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit offers customizable permission and enforcement systems. Developers can set custom policies, invite others to DApps, and allocate allowances, creating a tailored and controlled experience.
βYou can now have uninterrupted flows within the website,β said Dan Finlay, co-founder of MetaMask. The toolkit allows developers to decide the conditions for executing specific tasks, eliminating the need for confirmations.
This toolkit is the latest enhancement to improve MetaMask. It follows Consensys’s efforts to bolster the Web3 walletβs security with the acquisition of Wallet Guard, a security app. Wallet Guardβs features, such as real-time detection of scams and wallet drainers, will be integrated into MetaMask as part of the acquisition.
Besides strengthening its overall infrastructure, MetaMask has been testing transactions on Mastercardβs payments network. This initiative followed a partnership with Revolut, the European neo-bank, to simplify the process of buying cryptocurrency directly from the wallet.
