The Gitcoin Grants 21 program went live on Aug. 7 and will run until Aug. 21, highlighting the Arbitrum and Celo ecosystems in this latest quarterly funding round.
According to Gitcoin, this edition will emphasize governance, partnerships, and community empowerment. The 11 quadratic funding rounds in Gitcoin Grants 21 include nine community rounds, alongside the two ecosystem rounds for Arbitrum and Celo.

Over $60 Million Distributed Since 2019
Gitcoin Grants launched in 2019, providing a community-curated approach to project funding within the Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem. Since its inception, the initiative has distributed more than $60 million, supporting over 3,700 projects through the contributions of 270,270,000 unique users.
Arbitrum and Celo Ecosystem Rounds
The Arbitrum ecosystem round will feature a matching pool of 150,000 ARB, focusing on projects related to decentralized applications, core infrastructure, and developer tools.
Meanwhile, the Celo ecosystem round will target real-world blockchain use cases, such as regenerative finance, real-world assets, and decentralized physical infrastructure. Funding for the Celo ecosystem will include a $75,000 matching pool in native stablecoin Celo Dollars.
Celo Public Goods announced the launch of the Gitcoin Grants stack on the Celo blockchain in July, initiating two rounds for real-world builders with $75,000 and $100,000 matching pools, respectively.
