Major financial institutions, such as Goldman Sachs, BNY Mellon, and Cboe Global Markets, have successfully conducted a comprehensive pilot test utilizing blockchain technology.
According to a recent Bloomberg report, institutional investors carried out more than 350 simulated transactions using distributed ledger technology on the Canton network. This technology, developed by Digital Asset Holdings in May 2023, facilitated transactions involving tokenized assets, fund registry, digital cash, repo, securities lending, and margin management. The pilot test involved participation from 15 asset managers, 13 banks, four custodians, three exchanges, and the stablecoin issuer Paxos Trust.
The Canton Network, which was launched to provide privacy-enabled interoperable blockchain solutions for institutional investors, has seen significant adoption. In a recent announcement, the network revealed that 155 participants from 45 major organizations successfully demonstrated settlement across 22 permissioned blockchains connected to its ledger. Participants were able to engage in various decentralized applications (dApps) across different registries and trading platforms, facilitating the exchange of tokenized securities, money market funds, and deposits.
This innovative blockchain network enables financial institutions to seamlessly transfer regulated assets, data, and cash in real time. Participants can compose digital bonds and payments across different applications, ensuring secure and simultaneous exchanges without operational risks. Additionally, digital assets can be utilized in collateralized financial transactions through connections to repo or leveraged loan applications.
Notable participants in the Canton Network include industry leaders such as Deloitte, Deutsche BΓΆrse, Microsoft, Moodyβs, and S&P Global. The network has attracted attention from institutional investors and public figures, with recent tokenization initiatives by UBS and Lionel Messi generating significant interest in the market.
The rise of asset tokenization is reshaping various industries, including insurance, agriculture, and real estate, offering new opportunities for investors and businesses alike. For more news and updates on the latest developments in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, visit Global Crypto News.
