The largest hack in June involved the Turkish crypto trading platform BtcTurk, with losses amounting to $100.25 million. The company’s hot wallets were compromised, allowing attackers to breach at least 10 different cryptocurrencies.
The second-largest hack targeted the British crypto exchange Lykke, resulting in a loss of over $22 million. Other notable hacks included UwU Lend with $19.4 million, Holograph with $14.4 million, and Velocore with $6.8 million in losses.
Immunefi reports that the cryptocurrency ecosystem lost $572.7 million to hacks and scams in Q2 of this year, with 72 fraudulent incidents recorded over the past three months.
According to Crystal Intelligence, the crypto industry has lost nearly $20 billion to hacks and scams between 2011 and March 2024, with a total of 785 breaches recorded.
