Bitstamp, a prominent European cryptocurrency exchange recently acquired by US-based trading firm Robinhood, has announced the listing of Bonk (BONK).
The crypto exchange’s customers can now trade BONK on Bitstamp, including via iOS and Android mobile apps available on App Store and Google Play.
Bonk Now Tradable on Bitstamp
According to an announcement, Bitstamp has added support for two trading pairs for BONK β against USD and EUR. Both BONK/USD and BONK/EUR will be available for trading on the centralized exchange for its customers globally, except in the US and Singapore.
Bonk is a meme coin that gained attention in 2023, contributing to a surge in meme coins that boosted Solana’s value. Although it started as another dog-themed memecoin, Bonk has expanded its utility to include decentralized finance (DeFi) integration. The project also integrates with cross-chain messaging protocols and NFT marketplaces, among other crypto market ecosystems.
Popular exchanges that currently list BONK trading pairs include Binance, Coinbase, and OKX.
Bitstamp Teased Potential WIF Listing
Today’s listing of Bonk comes just a day after Bitstamp hinted at a potential listing of Dogwifhat (WIF), another popular Solana meme coin.
If Bitstamp lists WIF, it will join top crypto exchanges and trading platforms such as Binance, OKX, Bybit, and Kraken in listing the meme coin. Recent sentiment around WIF featured a potential listing on Coinbase, the top US-based crypto exchange. However, the crypto platform has yet to add trading support for the meme coin.
Amid today’s news, both Dogwifhat and Bonk are trading slightly higher. At the time of writing, WIF was changing hands at $2.01 while BONK traded at $0.00002131.
Robinhood to Acquire Bitstamp
Bitstamp’s strategic position as a highly regulated crypto platform in the European Union means its listing of key tokens is crucial for the underlying projects.
In 2024, Bitstamp is poised to gain further traction with Robinhood’s bid to acquire the exchange and the upcoming implementation of the EU’s MiCA rules.
