Binance.US has appointed Martin Grant, a former New York Federal Chief Compliance and Ethics officer, to its Board of Directors. Grant, who currently serves as the Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at JST Digital, brings over 30 years of experience in the financial and digital asset industry to the table. His appointment comes in the wake of Binance.US’s regulatory challenges with the U.S. SEC and a $4.3 billion plea agreement, with Grant expected to enhance regulatory compliance and ethical conduct within the company.

In a statement, Grant expressed his enthusiasm for guiding the future of Binance.US, emphasizing the importance of a safe, responsible, and compliant approach to the American digital asset industry. His addition to the board signifies a commitment to upholding industry standards and strengthening customer trust.

Grant’s appointment follows the formation of the first-ever Binance Board of Directors, established as part of an agreement with the U.S. Justice Department. The board, comprising seven members, includes CEO Richard Teng and other top-ranking executives. External figures, such as Bayview Acquisition Corp. CEO Xin Wang and Arnaud Ventura, managing partner at Gojo & CO., have also been named to the board.

Gabriel Abed, former Barbados’ ambassador to the UAE, will chair the board and oversee its operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This monitoring program may extend up to five years, reflecting Binance.US’s commitment to transparency and regulatory adherence.
