Pending SEC Approval for XRP and Dogecoin ETFs

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to acknowledge the spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) filings for XRP and Dogecoin as soon as this week. This development is closely watched by the cryptocurrency market, particularly after the SEC’s recent acknowledgement of the amended Solana ETF application by Grayscale.

According to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, amended filings for XRP and Dogecoin ETFs could be next in line for SEC approval. Seyffart and his colleague Eric Balchunas have assigned odds of a spot Litecoin ETF and Solana ETF approval at 90% and 70%, respectively. The SEC has already acknowledged Form 19b-4 for both cryptocurrencies, with final deadlines set for October 2 and October 25 for LTC and SOL, respectively.

XRP and Dogecoin ETF Approval Odds

Seyffart and Balchunas have also assigned odds of XRP and DOGE ETFs getting approved at 65% and 70%, respectively. This comes as anticipation across the crypto market is high in the post-Gary Gensler era. Seyffart noted that applications for spot ETFs on the Ripple cryptocurrency and the top meme coin could get a SEC acknowledgement nod this week.

Several companies have filed S-1 forms for XRP ETFs, including Canary Capital, WisdomTree, 21Shares, and Bitwise. Grayscale and Bitwise have also filed S-1 filings for Dogecoin ETFs. The analysts expect forms 19b-4 to get a nod on February 13 and 14 in that order.

Regulatory Clarity Expected in 2025

As for final approval, the analysts see the SEC and Commissioner Hester Peirce’s crypto task force providing a path to much-needed regulatory clarity by the end of 2025. Key issues to be addressed include the “untangling” of the question of security vs. commodity.
