Semler Scientific Bolsters Bitcoin Holdings with Latest Acquisition

Semler Scientific, a medical device manufacturer, has expanded its Bitcoin holdings by acquiring an additional 871 BTC for $88.5 million. This latest purchase was made between January 11 and February 3, and was funded through proceeds from a senior convertible notes offering and the partial monetization of its stake in Monarch Medical Technologies.

With this acquisition, Semler Scientific now holds a total of 3,192 BTC, purchased at an average price of $87,854 per Bitcoin, totalling $280.4 million. The company has reported a year-to-date BTC Yield of 21.9%, with a 152.2% return since adopting its Bitcoin treasury strategy in July 2024.

Eric Semler, Chairman of Semler Scientific, highlighted the strong investor demand for the firm’s convertible notes and the company’s commitment to Bitcoin accumulation. The medical device manufacturer has previously stated that it is β€œlaser focused” on acquiring and maintaining a larger Bitcoin reserve.

Financing the Acquisition

The company previously announced a $75 million private offering of convertible senior notes to institutional buyers, with proceeds earmarked for Bitcoin purchases. The notes, due in 2030, will accrue interest semiannually and may be settled in cash, stock, or a combination of both upon conversion.
