Sonic Labs Integrates Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol
Sonic Labs, formerly known as Fantom, has successfully launched Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol on its mainnet. This integration enables developers to leverage the features and benefits of Chainlink’s oracle network infrastructure, allowing them to build and deploy decentralized applications accessible on Sonic and other blockchain networks.
Key Features and Benefits
Along with Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), Sonic Labs has adopted Chainlink’s Data Streams and Data Feeds. These features will unlock novel cross-chain use cases and power the next generation of high-performance DeFi applications.
Chainlink’s CCIP is designed to provide enhanced network security, programmable and cross-chain tokens, and arbitrary messaging. The protocol has already been adopted by major financial institutions and platforms, including Fidelity International, Swift, and ANZ Bank, as well as leading DeFi projects such as Lido, Aave, and GMX.
“Developers in the Sonic blockchain ecosystem asked for Chainlink, and we’re thrilled that it’s now live on Sonic mainnet. Chainlink CCIP, Data Streams, and Data Feeds are critical for unlocking an array of novel cross-chain use cases and powering the next generation of high-performance DeFi apps,” said Sam Harcourt, business development lead at Sonic Labs.
Sonic Labs’ Recent Developments
This development follows Sonic’s participation in the Chainlink SCALE program in September 2024. Additionally, Sonic’s Ethereum Virtual Machine L1 launched its mainnet in December 2024, supporting 10,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality.
Earlier this month, Sonic adopted stablecoin issuer Circle’s bridged USDC standard. The launch of bridged USDC on the blockchain aims to jumpstart developer activity. A proposal for Aave v3 integration with Sonic also passed a temp check stage in December.
Tips for Developers
With the integration of Chainlink’s CCIP, developers can now build and deploy decentralized applications with enhanced network security and cross-chain capabilities. To get started, consider the following:
- Leverage Chainlink’s Data Streams and Data Feeds for real-time data and event-driven smart contracts.
- Utilize CCIP for secure and efficient cross-chain token transfers and messaging.
- Explore Sonic’s Ethereum Virtual Machine L1 for high-performance DeFi applications.
