Uniswap Launches In-App Permissionless Cross-Chain Bridging
Decentralized exchange Uniswap has introduced in-app, permissionless cross-chain bridging for its users, expanding its services across nine blockchain networks. This move aims to enhance the user experience by enabling seamless cross-chain swaps.
On October 23, the Uniswap team announced the launch of its permissionless cross-chain bridge, powered by the Across Protocol. This feature brings Uniswap closer to its goal of facilitating cross-chain transactions directly through the DEX protocol.
Supported Blockchain Networks
With this launch, Uniswap users can now perform cross-chain transactions across nine networks:
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Arbitrum (ARB)
- Polygon (POL)
- ZKSync
- Base
- Zora
- Blast
- OP Mainnet
- World Chain
The feature supports only native assets, such as ETH on the Ethereum network or ARB on the Arbitrum network. Additionally, stablecoins will also be available for bridging. Users can perform these cross-chain transactions directly through their Uniswap interface and Uniswap Wallet.
Growing User Base
According to data, multi-chain access has a cumulative count of over six million Uniswap users. However, cross-chain bridge swaps remain relatively low. The Uniswap Labs team aims to significantly increase this number with the new bridging feature.
Uniswap’s Future Plans
Recently, Uniswap unveiled UniChain, a new layer-2 chain designed to target DeFi and cross-chain liquidity. Announced on October 10, UniChain aims to address the challenges in the crypto market, focusing on decentralization, near-instant transactions, and multi-chain swapping.
βUniChain could raise significant revenue for Uniswap Labs and UNI token holders,β according to industry reports.
