U.S. Representative Ro Khanna is set to host a roundtable discussion on Aug. 5 with representatives from Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign and cryptocurrency industry leaders. This event marks a renewed effort to establish a fresh relationship with the industry.

Fox News reporter Eleanor Terrett highlighted the significance of this meeting, noting it represents a push from pro-crypto Democrats to re-engage with the industry. The roundtable will include key figures from Harris’s election campaign, offering a platform for dialogue between political leaders and crypto enthusiasts.

CA Congressman Ro Khanna is hosting another meeting in Washington on Monday for crypto industry leaders, Democratic politicians, and reps from the Kamala Harris campaign. Move represents renewed push from pro-crypto Dems to establish a fresh start with the industry.

One notable potential attendee is outgoing senior White House adviser Anita Dunn. She recently announced her transition to advising the largest pro-Harris super PAC, which is set to invest substantial funds in support of Harris’s campaign as Election Day approaches on Nov. 5.

Other expected attendees from the White House include Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed and National Economic Adviser Lael Brainard. This initiative is part of a broader attempt by Democrats to reshape the perception of their stance on cryptocurrencies under the Biden administration.

The cryptocurrency community has expressed concerns that Democratic policies have hindered the industry. However, the White House has not explicitly stated an anti-crypto position. In a 2022 executive order, the Biden administration encouraged responsible use of digital assets and their underlying technology, despite the significant financial loss from the Terra-Luna crash.

On the other side of the political spectrum, Republicans, including GOP nominee Donald Trump, have actively engaged with the cryptocurrency industry. Trump has even suggested firing U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chair Gary Gensler if elected, highlighting a stark contrast in approach between the two parties.

Democratic leaders, such as former White House executive Moe Vela, have criticized the GOP’s pro-crypto stance, labeling it as political pandering. This ongoing debate underscores the complex relationship between politics and the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
