President Biden issued an executive order on crypto in March 2022, aiming to establish a coordinated and comprehensive approach to crypto policy across the federal government. The order sought to address the risks and harness the potential benefits of digital assets and their underlying technology.

The executive order called for exploring a U.S. central bank digital currency (CBDC) and mitigating the national security risks posed by the illicit use of digital assets. House, who co-authored the order, described it in an interview as a balanced approach to overseeing the crypto industry, though she acknowledged there are still gaps that need to be addressed.
