With just months left until the 2024 U.S. election, former President Trump is looking to engage a potentially key group: the crypto community.

Trump is reportedly in talks to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 convention, expected to take place from July 25th – 27th, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. This information comes from sources familiar with the development.

Trump’s Crypto-Friendly Stance

The Bitcoin 2024 event is the largest Bitcoin event of the year and follows the Republican National Convention. Notably, it was at the Bitcoin 2020 event in Miami where El Salvador announced its plan to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. This event could offer Trump a platform to make a significant statement about his Bitcoin stance.

News of Trump’s plan to speak at this event comes amid increasing perception across the crypto industry that the former president is crypto-friendly. Comparatively, the current administration’s approach has been seen as less favorable for the industry.

Earlier this month, Trump met with leading Bitcoin miners in the U.S., stating that all remaining BTC should be mined domestically. During a recent rally, Trump declared:

β€œI will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto. We will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America.”

Crypto Donations for Trump’s Campaign

Trump’s positive view of crypto has garnered support within the industry, resulting in on-chain donations to his campaign. Although the exact amount donated in crypto isn’t fully disclosed, it is known that the Gemini crypto exchange founders, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, recently donated $2 million.

Data indicates that Trump’s campaign had received roughly $60,000 in on-chain crypto donations before the Winklevoss contribution. Total on-chain donations currently stand at around $1,749,200, with additional contributions made off-chain via exchanges expected to be available soon.
